THE OPPORTUNITY

Salary: $92,375 - $101,744 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.  
Location: Chadstone campus.
WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check.
Position Status: Ongoing contract of appointment with a 6-month qualifying period.

The Finance Department is currently seeking a dedicated and diligent Accountant to join the team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the financial operations of the Institute. This will involve assisting with the month and year-end processes, preparing reconciliations, posting journals and resolving any discrepancies. You will lead the data reconciliation process between the Student Management System (Banner) and TechOne (GL) ensuring accurate reporting.

Additionally, you will manage the monthly general ledger account reconciliation process and handle complex accounting requirements in line with Australian Accounting Standards. The role also involves assisting with the preparation of the Institute’s Annual Financial Report and collaborating with both internal and external auditors. You’ll ensure compliance with taxation requirements including BAS and FBT requirements.

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Taxation requirements, ensuring financial compliance and accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting (mandatory); Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or Charted Accountants (CA) certification is highly desirable.
  • A minimum three years’ experience as a financial accountant, handling reconciliations, journals and financial reporting for large organisations.
  • Proficiency in using IT finance systems and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills for financial reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, providing professional financial advice and support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with TechOne, Banner Student Management System and knowledge of the Victorian TAFE sector (desirable).
